My debut album has been designated a Parents’ Choice Silver Honor recipient! Wow–it’s wonderful and so inspiring to be named alongside some of my favorite family musicians. I am so happy that my little family music album-that-could has been so well-received. Click here to view the award page. Sweet!
Holy cats, it’s time for an update! It’s been awhile but I’ve been busy writing, recording, performing… Continue reading
Happy Fourth of July! In honor of my country’s birthday, below is a link to a song I recorded that was written by one of America’s greatest and most iconic songwriters: Woody Guthrie. Woody penned such classics as “This Land Is Your Land”, “Pastures of Plenty” and “So Long, It’s Been Good To Know Yuh”. I chose a little known song called “Along in the Sun and the Rain” to be my contribution to a new Woody Guthrie tribute album. “Keep Hoping Machine Running: Songs of Woody Guthrie” is a new collection of Woody Guthrie songs done by family music artists in honor of Woody’s 100th Birthday. It features some of my favorites like Alastair Moock, Frances England, the Okee Dokee Brothers, Dog on Fleas and Caspar Babypants. I’m proud to be included with Continue reading
Thanks to Keith G of Marquette for requesting this. I like it on uke, but it’s simple enough to play on any instrument.

My sister gave birth to a lovely little daughter named Itzel today–congratulations Angie and Leo! Uncle, Auntie and your cousins are all anxious to meet you!
On a completely different topic, I’ve posted a new song called “Hey It’s Ok” on the Music page. I’ve got it in mind for my next album. Please give a listen and let me know what you think…
This month marks nine years that my wife and I have lived in Marquette, Michigan. We moved from beautiful San Francisco, CA, a place we truly loved, because we were tiring of big city life and I think we wanted another adventure. Marquette has a lot to offer us: natural beauty, great people, family, great arts community, low crime, nonexistent traffic.
This past week I received a couple nice accolades from my community, and it feels great.
First, I was honored as Outstanding Performance Artist of the Year by The City of Marquette Arts and Continue reading
Would you like a custom-made Papa Crow song for your child? I just finished writing and recording a personalized song for a super cool soon-to-be 6 year old from Chicago, and had a great time in the process!
Please contact me through the “contact” page if you’re interested in exploring this option. Your song will be 100% original and will best work if you send me plenty of details about your child. I can email you an example of a Papa Crow custom song if interested.
I really wish it was a lazy Saturday, but as usual we’re busy, busy! I’m happy to report that after the sudden demise of my trusty ’70’s Crown power amp and subsequent blown monitor speaker, Studio Crow is again up and running. I got a pair of new powered monitor speakers a few weeks ago, and my new laptop arrived yesterday to replace my aging pc.
I’m excited to get to work on my new album, and also my Continue reading
2011 has been such a great year for your truly: my debut album was released and to my delight is being enjoyed by many kids and families. I also had a blast doing a bunch of live shows and am planning for more shows and recording in the new year.
With the new year fast approaching, I thought I’d chime in with a best of 2011 list of what I found to be great family music in the last year (I think most were 2011 releases, but all were ones I got this past year). There are plenty of Continue reading
